Publishing applications


Building a XenApp farm is an expensive solution, so we need to test all applications in a pilot environment to make sure all the applications can run on Remote Desktop Services (formerly known as Terminal Server) and on Citrix XenApp servers.

We need to decide on the appropriate application publishing method. Intensive testing of applications is critical for the success of XenApp farm deployment.

We can provide access to several types of published resources in XenApp to the users:

  • Hosted applications are installed locally on servers running XenApp. When users access them, the published applications are executed on the servers, but appear to be running locally on client machines. Hosted applications only run when users are connected to XenApp servers.

  • Streamed applications are installed in application profiles and are stored on a file server in our App Hub, published using the XenApp publishing wizard, and delivered to any client desktop or server on demand. Streaming...
