Use case – remote diagnostics
Let’s explore how connectivity and remote diagnostics are reshaping the traditional vehicle service model. We will compare the conventional scenario with a new, more efficient approach that leverages connected vehicle technology. This comparison will highlight the benefits and efficiencies gained by both vehicle owners and service centers through innovative solutions:
- Current scenario: Traditionally when a vehicle malfunctions, the owner of the vehicle schedules a visit and takes it to a service center so that the service technician can diagnose the problem and repair the vehicle. In case the diagnosis needs parts replacement and if the parts are not available, the owner of the vehicle must schedule further visits to get the repair done. This current conventional scenario is illustrated in Figure 9.4.
