Chapter 8: Data Cataloging and Governance

In this chapter, we will learn how to integrate Azure Purview and Synapse. We will be learning how to generate value out of data using metadata and cataloging. This is key to implementing data governance and security. As there are many elements associated with an enterprise data warehouse (EDW), it is important to understand how the two capabilities, accessing a data catalog and data classification, work when dealing with a very large data warehouse.

We will also learn how to configure and perform data discovery within Synapse Studio with the help of Azure Purview integration. With more than 200+ prebuilt classification, Azure Purview allows you to perform automated data classification. This will help you to integrate and perform data classification for a Synapse Analytics workspace.
