Security in general
The need for security is a reality in the IT world. If you haven’t been to this side of it before, ask your company’s security team, at what frequency does a cyberattack hit the company? Don’t be surprised if the quantity is on a per-second scale.
Security implies there is something of high value that needs protection. At its core, it is the protected, confidential, or sensitive data that your company needs to keep safe. For example, data protection is related to regulatory compliance in the case of personally identifiable information (PII) such as in the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL). In the case of a data breach, a company could face severe penalties. More importantly, its prestige will be significantly damaged, which could have commercial consequences.
