Creating a black and white logo
After working on a variety of sketches and rough ideas for the MIC logo, we should narrow down our choices and further develop a few of the logos into polished designs. We will explore a few of the ways we can achieve a polished black and white logo in this section.
Over the years, I’ve learned it’s best to work in black and white so that you don’t spend a lot of time (wasted time) on the small details such as how many colors to use, whether you should add gradients and drop shadows, and so on. You can do all of that now, but may not like the design by the time you finish. By leaving all of those details until last, you can focus on the important parts of the design with a clear mind.
With that being said, let’s get started on finishing one of the three best logos from the sketches. I have included the example Figure 14.8 in the resources folder if you would like to follow along.
