Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

In this chapter, you will learn the basic concepts behind artificial intelligence and machine learning. While the chapter is just a very short introduction to a wide subject, you will learn how to perform in practice some simple common machine learning tasks with the Microsoft ML.NET package.

The chapter classifies the basic techniques used in artificial intelligence, how they evolved, and the problems they can solve. Then, it focuses on machine learning, thus classifying the available techniques with their limits, their advantages, and disadvantages. Moreover, the chapter answers questions like: Why does machine learning work? Can I use machine learning for my problem and with the data I have? Which techniques are more adequate for my problem?

While the subject is too wide to be covered in a single chapter, examples of some simple techniques are given.
