Choosing your level of agility
Disciplined Agile does not expect an enterprise to implement the full complement of capabilities in one fell swoop. Instead, the enterprise can start small, starting with only one team, and then build on initial successes to implement increasingly advanced concepts such as DevOps, value stream management, and enterprise-wide agility. Figure 11.17 shows the scope of the DA toolkit, which includes four layers of processes to scale business agility:
The bottom-most layer is the Foundation, followed by Disciplined DevOps, then by Value Stream, and finally, the Disciplined Agile Enterprise layers.
The process layers of the DA toolkit build on each other, adding Lean and Agile practice capabilities from the bottom up.
