Chapter 4: Increasing Security with Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) are security features growing in many organizations to keep their users and data more secure. The two terms mentioned here are not the same, but rather an evolution from having two factors to having multiple factors. Instead of one type of factor, based on the context, users are asked to confirm who they are, by presenting something they know, such as their username and password, something they have, such as a physical card, token, or soft token on a device, and/or something they are, such as using biometrics.
