IP telephony penetration testing lab setup
The lab setup is the most important part of the activity. For this chapter, we will be setting up the lab with the following components to demonstrate the various vulnerabilities and exploit those vulnerabilities:
- Trixbox – Trixbox is an open source IP-PBX server that is very easy to configure and supports the latest VoIP signaling protocols, such as SIP2.0, H.323, and so on.
Trixbox supports very little jitter issues while transferring media packets over RTP and is also compatible with almost all softphones and VoIP phones such as Cisco. Please feel free to explore more PBX servers, such as FreePBX, Asterisk, OpenPBX, and so on. But for this part of the chapter, we will be working on Trixbox.
