Creating a new style by modifying an existing style
As we have seen, Word comes with several Quick Styles that we can apply easily to our documents. We have also learned how styles can be affected by themes. In this section, we want to explore how to create custom styles and add them to the Styles gallery.
We already know that using styles can help us create a consistent look in our documents. Being able to create custom styles gives us the freedom to create styles for any situation or look that we want in a document. Custom styles can also be copied to other documents or saved in a template so that all your documents can use them and have that consistency.
Like many things in Word, there is more than one way to create a custom style. For example, you can modify an existing style or you can create a style from formatting. We will begin by formatting text in our document in a specific way so that we can save it as our new style.
