Summary
In this chapter, we learned ways to break up a chapter into a variety of different kinds of sections so that we can use other tools and features in Microsoft Word to visually break up documents and communicate to our readers where they are within longer documents.
We learned about the different types of breaks you can create in Microsoft Word (both page and section breaks), and why section breaks are useful and necessary for formatting. We then discussed how and when you need to insert your own section breaks into a Word document. We explored several scenarios when section breaks are useful, including when changing the page orientation and when changing page numbers across different sections or chapters in a longer document. These certainly aren't the only times when breaks are handy, but they do remain some of the most frequently asked questions we receive.
