Data sources and preparation

In the process of designing data for reporting, it is important to first think about what specific questions you wish to answer. You must conduct a workshop with management stakeholders to get started. Try to get an understanding of the following key topics.

Monitoring process activity

Monitoring is mostly about the current state of process operations and the organization of day-to-day work. Usually, the management is interested in the following:

  • How many active processes do we have?
  • What is the compliance to deadlines and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)?
  • What is the workload of the teams?

Management uses these questions to identify any need for changing process operations, staffing, or the organization of the teams.

In Appian, we use a process analytics engine and the database to query real-time data for visualization.
