Introducing vSphere vMotion
vSphere vMotion is a VMware technology used to migrate a running virtual machine from one host to another without altering its power state. The beauty of the whole process is that it is transparent to the applications running inside the virtual machine. Compute vMotion is the default vMotion method and is employed by other features such as DRS, FT, and maintenance mode. When you initiate a vMotion, it initiates an iterative copy of all the memory pages.
