Transportation can be location-specific and can be point-to-point; that is, transporting goods from location A to location B with one means of transport. Another scenario could be an intermodal, where multiple means of transport are used to ship the goods from one location to another. For example, you could be exporting goods from one country to another that's overseas, so transportation could be via roads as well as the ocean.
