Understanding a solution architect’s mindset for cloud adoption
A solution architect needs to follow the following fundamental design principles for a successful application migration and modernization project:
- The key concept of modernization is to build once, run anywhere consistently, along with IaaS, PaaS, and self-service capabilities as per the application’s requirements.
- A true multi-cloud strategy is where applications and workloads are deployed in multiple cloud platforms (both public and private). However, a centralized monitoring and governance platform will ensure this multi-cloud platform’s security, policy, and stability.
- Modernize once and avoid recording expenses. Re-Host can temporarily reduce the cost, but applications still need to be refactored and re-innovated, which can cost more; therefore, modernization and migration are often the preferred approaches for cloud adoption.
