Testing as a commercial enterprise

Since I had spent so much time in my career developing test technologies, it made sense for me to get involved in test systems as a commercial business. As shown in Figure 3.9, during the 1990s and early 2000s, I held various senior engineering and business roles over commercial test product platform development at Tekelec, VIEW Engineering, and Spirent Communications.

During this time, I founded a firm called EdenTree Technologies to produce smart test automation platforms for network laboratories. This exposed me to the testing and quality assurance environments of hundreds of global clients in networks, enterprises, operating companies, and government institutions. I found that testing was a bottleneck to the release processes and presented gating factors to achieve quality for most industries globally.
