This chapter started by illustrating the evolution of blockchains and by exploring its different designs: public, private, and semi-private. We then covered some of the most mature solutions on the market such as Hyperledger or Corda, but also the most promising ones such as Quorum and Aergo. We also reviewed cloud-based solutions that provide enterprise-grade platforms to extend business processes and applications, and eventually understood why these solutions have to be handled cautiously to remain consistent with blockchain principles.
In the next chapter, we will harness different strategic approaches to implementing a blockchain and explore the various points that have to be considered when launching a blockchain project.
