Finishing the gun
We are now going to add more details to the gun in order to finish it:
- First, make an indentation in the turret at the base of the gun.
We still have a Subdivision Surface modifier on this object, so we only need to extrude a few faces inward to achieve this shape.
- Next, add an octagonal cylinder to the gun base and try to shape it so it fits the turret:
- Activate Proportional Editing by pressing O, and shape the back end of the cylinder like a square:
- Also fit the shape to the turret at the bottom of the gun, as shown in Figure 9.32:
- Apply a Subdivision Surface modifier to the shape. Then, modify the shape further with Proportional Editing.
