VM Groups are a new feature in Windows Server 2016 that allows you to create and use groups of servers. Server 2016 supports two different types of VM Groups: VM collection groups and management collection groups. A VM collection group is a collection of Hyper-V VMs. You can carry out tasks on the groups rather than on each individual VM. A management collection group is a collection of VM collection groups and other nested management collection groups. VM groups are especially useful for backups and for VM replication.
