Creating DRS Groups

DRS lets you define affinity rules for hosts and VMs that are managed by it. These rules affect the migration and placement recommendations that are generated by DRS. The VM-Host affinity rules, however, require the administrator to segregate ESXi hosts and VMs into DRS hosts and VM groups before the rules can be applied.

In this recipe, we will learn how to create DRS host groups and DRS VM groups.

Getting ready

Make a list of Virtual Machines and Hosts that have to be grouped and arrive at desired group naming conventions before you proceed with creating the groups.
