Working with Archive Footage

In this chapter, we will look at different file types and importing, as well as preparing these different file types in Resolve.

Additionally, we will look at using Fusion FX to restore old video footage, and change the timing of our dubbed audio to match the timing of the video. We will also use Fairlight to normalize the audio levels of our audio clips so that the sound volume of our video is consistent and easy for our video’s viewers to listen to.

In this chapter, we’re going to cover the following main topics:

  • Restoring video using Fusion FX
  • Changing audio speed
  • Using Elastic Wave
  • Normalizing audio

Let’s begin our journey into working with archive footage by learning how to restore videos using Fusion FX.
