Displaying a level at the main menu
Torque 3D's example projects come with a static main menu that includes buttons to start playing a level or join a server. Often, a game developer will just drop in a nice picture as the backdrop of the main menu. In this recipe, we will take this customization one step further by displaying an actual game level in the background of the main menu to add a level of professionalism to the game.
Getting ready
For this recipe we will be working with a fresh copy of the Full
template and make a number of script changes and additions. If you haven't done so already, use the Torque Project Manager (Project Manager.exe
) to create a new project from the Full
template. It will be found under the My Projects
directory. Then start up your favorite script editor, such as Torsion, and let's get going!
