Fabricating a Multi-Part Storage Box with a Sliding Lid
In this chapter, we will continue to apply our skills and abilities for designing models in Tinkercad that are manufacturable with 3D printing technology through another practical application! For this project, we will be creating a multi-part storage box with a sliding lid through the following topics:
- Starting with the box
- Cutting the grooves
- Making the lid
- Adding artwork
- Exporting and manufacturing our models
As with the last chapter, this practical application will allow us to recap and review key concepts covered earlier in this book as we design a prototype under the constraints of a real-world challenge. This project will have a greater emphasis on dimensions and measurements as initially introduced in Chapter 2, as well as tolerances as discussed in Chapter 12.
