Location Manager – directions for apps

You must have observed that in many iOS applications, your current location is spotted automatically. With RubyMotion, we can easily use the location capabilities of your device with our application. There are two parts to this: the first is to find the device location and the second is to display it in our application.

iOS SDK contains various layers; one of them is the Core Services layer and a part of this layer is the Core Location framework. This framework uses the available hardware to determine a user's current position and where they are heading. Core Location provides us with coordinates, text strings, and number values instead of visual location information such as maps. Later in the chapter, we will also use Map Kit that will help us embed maps directly in our views using our knowledge of the Core Location framework.
