A step by step guide, which will provide you with a thorough discussion on the analysis and design of fundamental Python data structures.
Get a better understanding of advanced Python concepts such as big-o notation, dynamic programming, and functional data structures.
Explore illustrations to present data structures and algorithms, as well as their analysis, in a clear, visual manner.
Description
Data structures allow you to organize data in a particular way efficiently. They are critical to any problem, provide a complete solution, and act like reusable code.
In this book, you will learn the essential Python data structures and the most common algorithms.
With this easy-to-read book, you will be able to understand the power of linked lists, double linked lists, and circular linked lists. You will be able to create complex data structures such as graphs, stacks and queues. We will explore the application of binary searches and binary search trees. You will learn the common techniques and structures used in tasks such as preprocessing, modeling, and transforming data. We will also discuss how to organize your code in a manageable, consistent, and extendable way. The book will explore in detail sorting algorithms such as bubble sort, selection sort, insertion sort, and merge sort.
By the end of the book, you will learn how to build components that are easy to understand, debug, and use in different applications.
Who is this book for?
The book will appeal to Python developers. A basic knowledge of Python is expected.
What you will learn
Gain a solid understanding of Python data structures.
Build sophisticated data applications.
Understand the common programming patterns and algorithms used in Python data science.
I bought this book to get an introduction to data structures and algorithms. The content in this book is good, it explains in a nice way the different algorithm complexities, the different data structures and introduces some basic functions of these data structures. Then it goes into algorithms, searching and sorting mostly, and gives examples. However, the formatting and editing of this book is horrible. There are tons of typos and most importantly the code it provides includes a lot of mistakes. I did spent in several occasions in the book 1 or 2 hours working on finding a fix for the provided code. That can be seen as a good exercise (the book has none) but it is just unacceptable for a book to provide wrong code. In some other cases the code has simple mistakes such as a/b when it was supposed to be a//b. I do not know if it is because the book uses Python 2.7 and I use Python 3.6, but the code still has plenty of mistakes. In many cases the code also forgets to import several packages that are necessary.I would, therefore, not recommend this book to someone else.

so many inconsistent codes, very hard to understand.

Concise, emphasis is on the principles. Other books get lost in details, mixing different levels of abstraction. Best text to learn about data structures using Python.

I recommend you do not buy this version of this book. Often times the code examples run across pages, making it very difficult to understand what the correct indentations of the code are, and you will be unable to download the code files for this version since it has been updated.
