Chapter 8. Creating an Inventory Dashboard with QlikSense
It is hard to imagine another company more closely associated with Tableau than Qlik. They both provide the same data discovery service to customers and are considered direct competitors. The differences between them are few lessen with each new release.
Qlik first emerged on the market in 1996 with QlikView and soon began to find its way into departments looking to quickly capitalize on their data and produce quick and powerful visualizations that could help them answer the pressing questions being asked by their company.
QlikView is the flagship product of Qlik and allows developers to produce guided analytics. More recently QlikSense was developed for business intelligence self-service visualizations and dashboards. While both tools have much to offer to a Business Intelligence department, our focus in this chapter will be on QlikSense because of the ability to deliver a "cleaner" or "finished" product with a dashboard.
