Exporting components
The Component Export, like the Page Export, enables us to selectively choose specific components of our application to export, rather than exporting the entire application. Components can include things like Pages, Templates, Application Items, List of Values, Lists, Shortcuts, Tabs, and other Shared Components. The Component Export enables us to be very selective in exactly what we wish to export.
By being specific in what we export, we only need to select the pages, templates, or shared components that have been modified. This can reduce the amount of testing required as we are only deploying functionality that has changed. It can also simplify deployment, especially if you only need to deploy a change to a list of values for example. It can also be useful to backup specific components so they can be reapplied at a later stage if changes have been made.
