.NET, Java, Python, and many other languages are designed to be cross-platform. The corresponding source code doesn't get compiled into an assembly language (such as Intel, ARM, and so on), but gets compiled into an intermediate language that is called bytecode language. Bytecode language is a type of language that's close to assembly languages, but it can be easily executed by an interpreter or compiled on the fly into a native language (this depends on the CPU and operating system it is getting executed in) in what's called Just-in-Time (JIT) compiling.
