Understanding the smart building ecosystem
Smart buildings can be used to support all kinds of office scenarios. The idea behind smart buildings is to use systems and sub-systems to collect important information that can be used to support all kinds of services. We call this the smart building ecosystem. But what do we mean by that?
Let's start by defining the basic components of smart buildings. There are four basic components in the smart building ecosystem:
- Sensors
- Analytics
- User interfaces
- Automation
We can illustrate these components and how they work together in Figure 17.1:
