Chapter 7

  1. The ranges library in C++ allows ranges of elements to be handled, manipulating them using view adapters, which are far more efficient because they don't store the entire collection as an adapter result.
  2. A function is pure if it doesn't modify the state, and produces the same result for the same input.
  3. A pure virtual function is a characteristic of a function without an implementation. Pure virtual functions are used to describe interface functions for derived classes. Pure functions in functional programming are those functions that do not modify the state.
  4. Folding (or reduction) is the process of combining a collection of values together to generate a reduced number of results.
  5. Tail recursion allows compilers to optimize the recursive calls by omitting the allocation of new memory space for each recursive call.
