Where to go for information
Ray Tsang: Mostly, I just follow Twitter. Sometimes I do check Hacker News and some mailing lists as well. As a Java Champion, I get to see the mailing lists there. I also read other Java-oriented mailing lists to see what new things are being considered or worked on, and those are very useful.
I personally find some of the developer surveys to be really awesome, at least for understanding the landscape.
Of course, every one of them will be slightly different, but in the greater scheme of things, it just helps with understanding a little bit of the current trends.
There are other things that are getting popular, like serverless and machine learning, but I think that at the end of the day, there are always these practical problems that we all have to solve.
