  • How do I personally feel about workplace conflict? Do I see it as helpful, disruptive, or neutral? Why do I believe this?

  • Think of a recent conflict situation. What was your role? Was the outcome positive? Would you handle it the same of differently if you had to deal with it again?

  • Consider this approach, given there are opportunities to manage conflict everyday:

    • Think of a conflict you might be having with someone at this time.

    • On a piece of paper head up the paper with a title representing this conflict.

    • On the left-hand side, write down your conflict style in action.

    • On the right-hand side write down all the facts about the issue.

    • As you look at the style you are using, and weigh it against the facts of the situation, assess whether you are using the best style and be willing to change to a more appropriate one if it is determined so.

Conflict in the workplace will always exist. Just because as an introvert you may have the tendency to withdraw when it surfaces does...
