Understanding billing models
As with licensing, which we looked at in the previous chapter, there are two different models for billing. You can choose between the pay-as-you-use or the capacity billing model. Even if you select the pay-as-you-use model, these deployments must be able to report their usage through a connection to Azure at least once every 30 days. This means that the pay-as-you-use model can only be used with the connected deployment scenario. Let's look at each of these billing models in turn, starting with the pay-as-you-use model.
Pay-as-you-use
The pay-as-you-use billing model charges the usage to an Azure subscription. In this model, you only pay when you use the Azure Stack Hub services. To be able to use the pay-as-you-use billing model, you need an Azure subscription and the account ID associated with the Azure subscription.
