US presidential elections in 2016 brought malicious use of harvesting data and privacy issues to the public. This resulted in Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, testifying before Congress, and in general more scrutiny towards the whole tech community. Silicon Valley ten years ago still seemed like a promised land. Ten years later, books like “The Age of Surveillance Capitalism” of Shoshana Zuboff point towards imperfections and inherent flaws in the California startup ecosystem.
