Summary
In this chapter, we explored the CMYK, RGB, and spot color spaces. We now have an understanding of additive, subtractive, and spot colors. We looked at how primary colors mix and blend to produce secondary colors, and in turn how tertiary colors can be created by mixing secondary colors across these models. We also had a look at color separations for print and prepress. This helped us further discern the differences between spot and process colors. This knowledge assists in predicting with confidence the way printed material will be produced on a printing press.
This chapter is a prelude to the one that follows. We’ll use what we learned here to work with color and graphics in a print brochure design. We’ll work with both color and graphics to create a vibrant design. We will explore various types of imported color models, vector graphics, raster images, and business graphics.
