Redash API

Redash exposes the REST API for most of its features, allowing a lot of possibilities so that you can customize and extend it to meet your own needs.

As part of this chapter, we will cover the exposed API methods, as well as some real world ideas for their use.

API authentication

All of the API calls in Redash support authentication with an API key. Redash has two types of API keys:

  • User API Key: This has the same permissions as the user who owns it, and can be found on the user profile page. Click on Users in the top-right corner and choose Edit Profile:
  • Query API Key: This only has access to the query and its results, and can be found on the query page. Click on the query menu (1) and choose Show API Key ...
