Creating the top and bottom profiles of the television shelf
First of all, we need a basic 3D mesh for the television shelf. Once we get this primitive, we can enhance it by creating a Substance material for it. In this section, we will first create a primitive, and then we will add a nice-looking profile to its top and bottom of it:
- After launching Adobe Substance 3D Designer, create a new Substance model graph. Once it’s created, right-click on it with your mouse and rename it
TV_Shelf_Model
.

You will notice that there is a yellow alert sign next to the Substance model graph. This is because the graph is empty.
- Go to the SUBSTANCE MODEL GRAPH window, press the spacebar, and type
primitive 3d
in the search field. Once Primitive 3D appears in the library, select it.
