What is custom duty/charge?

Customs duty are charges levied on goods when they cross international borders. It is a tax that is imposed on imported goods. These duties are charged by special authorities and bodies created by local governments and are meant to protect local industries, economies, and businesses.

Do I have to pay customs charges for the print book order?

The orders shipped to the countries that are listed under EU27 will not bear custom charges. They are paid by Packt as part of the order.

A custom duty or localized taxes may be applicable on the shipment and would be charged by the recipient country outside of the EU27 which should be paid by the customer and these duties are not included in the shipping charges been charged on the order.

How do I know my custom duty charges?

The amount of duty payable varies greatly depending on the imported goods, the country of origin and several other factors like the total invoice amount or dimensions like weight, and other such criteria applicable in your country.

For example:

If you live in Mexico, and the declared value of your ordered items is over $ 50, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 19% which will be $ 9.50 to the courier service.
Whereas if you live in Turkey, and the declared value of your ordered items is over € 22, for you to receive a package, you will have to pay additional import tax of 18% which will be € 3.96 to the courier service.

How can I cancel my order?

Cancellation Policy for Published Printed Books:

You can cancel any order within 1 hour of placing the order. Simply contact customercare@packt.com with your order details or payment transaction id. If your order has already started the shipment process, we will do our best to stop it. However, if it is already on the way to you then when you receive it, you can contact us at customercare@packt.com using the returns and refund process.

Return Policy:

We want you to be happy with your purchase from Packtpub.com. We will not hassle you with returning print books to us. What tax is charged?

The book is a guide for exam preparation with practice questions and chapters containing sections for knowledge testing. It stresses the importance of hands-on experience, urging readers to explore Google Cloud Platform (GCP) security products using a free GCP account. It recommends utilizing Google Cloud Skills Boost for practical experience through its collection of security labs. Though a paid service, Google Cloud Skills Boost also offers courses that are linked in the book's chapters, especially beneficial for those new to GCP or accustomed to other cloud platforms, to understand GCP's unique offerings and capabilities.What blew my mind is how for this certification compliance and compliance reporting is directly addressed with reports built by GCP for platform specific products. As an AWS Security certified indiviual, that's not something included on the sylabus for the certification nor covered on training. as a Security professional, GRC is front and center specially for cloud environments. All this is covered extensively on this book; including continuos compliance.Something unique and quite powerful about google cloud is their notion of identity, as they built their cloud offering with a strong fundation of Zero trust; the way it's explained in this book is clear, concise and well exemplified.I appreciated the inclusion of functional links to whitepapers and architecture overviews, which proved to be time-saving resources.I found value in the structured layout of each section, where topic explanations are aptly followed by hands-on exercises, fostering a practical understanding of the discussed concepts.The thorough coverage of CI/CD security and container security is commendable, providing readers with a well-rounded understanding of cybersecurity in cloud environments.Overall, one of the best cybersecurity books I've had the pleasure of reading, Icing on the cake is that it prepares your for a cloud certification.

In particular I appreciated the visual and walkthrough examples of the concepts for this exam. I believe the authors did a good job walking through the different areas and backed this up with practical examples and illustrations. If you are a visual learner or simply looking for an additional resource to study for this exam, I highly recommend this.

Technical books and guides are the staple for all IT professionals. In college, the teachers prescribe books that are too technical, and require some additional guidance to read and understand. The authors of this book have taken care to not just enable one to learn and understand, but have put in an effort where the smallest details are not missed and it is easier to absorb the subject matter.With appropriate shortened URLs(which provide an opportunity to learn more), screenshots of what I am supposed to see, and various detailed steps of how to get to the right screen and understand the options within the GCP, this guide is a true help for the visual and the physical learner.All security concepts in the Google Cloud Platform are addressed, and as the authors promised, the book is not just for the exam essentials, but go beyond and help any security professional seeking to learn about what GCP offers in terms of security. I, for one, feel confident that I will be able to pass the Cloud Security Engineer exam without any external help other than this book.
