A few last thoughts on actions
There are three other small things that we should cover about actions, and then we can get on to the fun part of the book: combining everything that we've learned into one big, crazy project! So stick with me for another few minutes on this subject and then we'll get down to more of drawing and creating.
Playing part of an action
There are two ways to play only parts of an action. The first way is to open the action so that the steps are visible and then check or uncheck the boxes to the left of the step names to turn them on or off. Say that we only wanted to make the Shadows layer in our cel-shading action. We could open the action and uncheck each step beyond when the layer name for the shadow layer is changed. Then only the steps that are checked will be played as shown in the following screenshot:
If we wanted to play only the steps from the middle of the action onward, we could leave everything turned to on (checked), but select the second Hue, saturation...
