As a reader with a few years of hands-on experience deploying at scale and managing both Amazon EKS and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), "Mastering Kubernetes" by Gigi Sayfan is for both beginners and seasoned professionals. It might be difficult to process all of the concepts as a beginner with no prior experience with Kubernetes, but there are plenty of examples included and community links available to reach the author. For those new to Kubernetes, the book breaks down core concepts into digestible portions.Sayfan doesn't just provide theoretical knowledge; he has included some design exercises. There are examples creating local clusters for minikube, kind and k3d and Rancher Desktop. The reading also covers multiple major cloud providers including GCP, AWS and Azure.Sayfan sheds light on how Kubernetes' design principles enable unprecedented adaptability while presenting challenges that demand a nuanced understanding. Understanding the history of Kubernetes is crucial for grasping the motivations behind its design choices and the challenges it addresses. There is also a plethora of information available regarding some of useful tooling, best practices and Cloud specific solutions created to solve common problems. It's essential to note that the book's coverage extends only up to Kubernetes version 1.26. As the Kubernetes ecosystem is known for its rapid evolution. At the current time, v1.29 is the latest version available.

It is a very #WIDE book with a lot of different tools, topics, tips and tricks inside. First time to see so many topics and details in a SINGLE #kubernetes book !I like the following few chapters most, e.g. Chapter 17: Running Kubernetes in #Production, Chapter 16: #Governing Kubernetes, Chapter 11: Running Kubernetes on Multiple #Clusters, Chapter 10: Exploring Kubernetes #Networking, Chapter 6: Managing #Storage, Chapter 4: #Securing Kubernetes, ...

You can get most of the book information from Blogs, and it would be better organized. There isn't enough in-depth learning in this book for experts, let alone anyone who may be new to Kubernetes. I suggest looking elsewhere if you want to learn anything.

The content is great as it covers advanced concepts for Kubernetes but explains them in a simple manner. What the book lacks though is a usable search and a Table of Contents. I wanted to see how to create a reverse proxy for Kubernetes. The book doesn't support search. In addition, there is a Table of Content, but you can't get to it from the online Kindle by clicking Table of Contents, you have to manually go to the beginning of the book to find it.The book really deserves 4.5 stars for these minor but very helpful omissions
