Learning about some alternatives for grid layouts
Let’s discuss how we can escape grids or alter them so that their disadvantages don’t matter anymore. What could some alternatives to grid-based layouts be? Is it even possible to work without grids entirely?
Breaking out of the grid
We can ensure that elements don't fill entire grid cells or purposefully make them overflow grid cells. Although technically still using a grid, we give the illusion of breaking out of it. This way, we can still have all the benefits of grids.
The Texas-based nail studio Cure Nails (https://curenails.co) uses this technique to create more dynamic layouts. It makes elements overlap each other, as shown in the following figure.
