Editions overview

The editions differ mostly in terms of graphical environments. However, each environment provides a set of GUI configuration tools and a set of default software (SW) applications. They also bring at least some additional CPU, memory, and HW requirements.

For a regular PC or laptop of any kind, Manjaro officially provides the Plasma, Xfce, and GNOME desktop environments.

In addition, for desktops and PCs, the Manjaro community develops Budgie, Cinnamon, I3, Sway, MATE, and Manjaro Docker.

Here, we will take a brief look at the official graphical environments.

These are the official minimum HW requirements for all desktop environments:

• 1 GB of memory. This is the absolute minimum, but using 2 GB is a more realistic minimum.
• 30 GB of hard disk space. Consider having at least 50 GB.
• A 1 GHz processor. Practically, using at least a dual-core 1.7 GHz processor is a more realistic minimum requirement.
