Time for action—creating a pattern completely from samples, with a drum loop

LMMS already comes with a lot of samples in its library. Let's make a pattern that utilizes them, and then explore using drum loops:

  1. Create a new project in LMMS.
  2. Save this project as Samples Project.
  3. Open the side bar.
  4. Open the My Samples folder.
  5. Open the Misc folder and highlight snaph01.ogg:

  6. Drag the snaph01 sample to your Beat+Bassline Editor.

  7. Let's put this snap on the bars two and four of this 4/4 measure, as shown in the following screenshot. Every four beats in this pattern represent a quarter note of time. This 32 beat pattern is four quarter notes long, so here is the proper placement:
  8. Now revisit the My samples folder, and choose a kick, bass, and hihat to add to this pattern. Use the following samples and create the following pattern:

  9. This beat is a techno beat, and fits the tempo of 140 very well. Now let's add the following elements:
