To test the kernel OOM killer, we shall have to put enormous memory pressure on the system. Thus, the kernel will unleash its weapon – the OOM killer, which, once invoked, will identify and kill some process (or processes). Hence, obviously, I highly recommend you try out stuff like this on a safe isolated system, preferably a test Linux VM (with no important data on it).
