Auditing system changes
When you have more than one Jira administrator managing your Jira instance, it can often lead to a too many cooks situation, or you simply would like to keep track of who made which changes and when. Jira tracks and records many changes to many of the key system features and provides you with a full audit log of all the activities that are going on. This helps you diagnose problems and also perform a security audit in your system. To access the audit log, follow these steps:
- Browse to the Jira administration console.
- Select the System tab and then the Audit log option.
As we can see from the following screenshot, the audit log keeps a track of changes such as custom fields, project roles, and more. You can filter the audit log based on the date and type, the person who made the change, and other options to help you narrow down the search:
