In this chapter, we have highlighted a few possibilities of extending the storage layout around OpenStack by taking advantage of the usage of a variety of storage drivers. As has been demonstrated, a cloud operator can define multiple storage backends that can be used at the same time. Keep in mind that there is not only Ceph, NFS, or LVM that can be used as a storage backend for the block storage in OpenStack; Ocata release brings dozens of storage drivers supported by Cinder. With this tremendous growth of the storage support options around OpenStack, we have walked-through a combination of storage backends usage and covered filters and weighing mechanisms and how they work.
