Problem – audio and video drift out of sync
If you’ve recorded video and audio separately – perhaps you have a dedicated camera and a separate microphone – you’ll need to sync the two up in the timeline. If you’re having trouble with that, check out the Syncing multi-camera footage section of Chapter 6. Otherwise, here’s a recap on syncing video and audio:
- Find a point in your video where there is a clear visual cue for a short, sharp sound (such as a clap or the sound of drums).
- Mark that point in the video with a marker (M); then, find the start of the sound in the audio track, select the audio track, and mark that point too.
- Drag the audio so that the two markers are in the same place. If you have Snapping toggled on (N), the markers will be drawn together when they’re close.
