Geertjan Wielenga: Do you have any tips about handling flights and all the other problems of traveling the world?
Josh Long: On my team at Pivotal, we have a person, Tasha, who manages air traffic control.
She's an events coordinator and she manages my appearances. While I'm free to manage them myself, I've realized that if I just lean on her, IÂ get infinitely better results. She's got the bird's-eye view.
It's hard to reach out to conferences and ask them to move your appearance so that you can make another conference nearby on that day. When it comes to your schedule, there's only one of you and so many places to be. With a big conference like Oracle Code One, that's a whole-week affair, but there could be five other events I want to be at in that same week. Somebody like Tasha can help to coordinate these appearances so I can be in different cities every day.
