Checking the Foundations
The term foundations here refers to the elements of your AWS environment that are not specific to a single workload or project and that can impact the reliability of any of your AWS workloads. In this context, your foundations consist of, on the one hand, your AWS resource constraints and, on the other hand, your overall AWS network topology.
Resource Constraints
Resource constraints can be divided into categories: service quotas and environmental constraints. The following subsections discuss these in detail.
Service Quotas
Service quotas are default pre-defined values on each AWS account; they are meant to protect you from over-provisioning AWS resources and to protect the AWS cloud from abuse.
