Displaying Audio Waveforms ( also known as Sample Plot)


Note that in earlier releases of Media Composer, Audio Waveforms were referred to as Sample Plot and that the display-type called Energy Plot has been removed.

It is also helpful to know that if you have audio with mismatched Sample Rates (meaning that a Clip's audio does not match the Project's Sample Rate as set in the Audio Project Settings), that those waveforms will be displayed as light grey, rather than black. There is more information about this in Chapter 6, Changing Audio Sample Rate for Clips & Sequences.

In this recipe, we'll cover the two methods available for displaying the Audio Waveforms in the Timeline, and in the There's more... section, we'll see how it's possible to display Audio Waveforms for Source Material.
